Sirois, Yvon

Yvon Sirois, Dispensing Optician
(1923-2018)
Our family is deeply saddened to announce the death of Mr. Yvon Sirois, who passed away peacefully at the age of 94, on Monday, April 30, 2018. Devoted and caring husband of Helen Sirois (nee White), loving father to Neil Sirois (Angelika Sirois, nee Tirschler) and Charlotte Sirois Di Stefano (late James Di Stefano), cherished grandfather of Jennifer Di Stefano, Nina Di Stefano (Robert South) and Michael Sirois, loving great-grandfather to Emerson Di Stefano, Henry and Étienne South. He also leaves in mourning nieces, nephews, surviving relatives and many dear friends and acquaintances.
During his career as a Dispensing Optician that spanned over 60 years, Mr. Sirois was very well respected by his many loyal work colleagues and clients for his professionalism, his excellent service with a smile, his innovation and for maintaining the highest standards. As a family man, his last thoughts were for the care of his wife and life companion for nearly 72 years. He was a man of many talents, he loved people, and lived life to its fullest. A man of great faith, of rare integrity, sincerity, and tremendous self-discipline. Mr. Sirois was a man who led by example, was selfless, and firmly believed in the “service dimension” of the business he built: Optical Service, reaching out to all in Sherbrooke, in the province and beyond the borders of Canada. As an avid sportsman from his youth, he was a keen competitor with a good sense of humour, excelling in baseball and hockey and, in his later years, becoming a proficient golfer and tackling many challenging golf courses. He also enjoyed bowling, chess, hard Sudoku puzzles, reading, accounting, overseeing projects at home and, in his last years, taking on meals in the kitchen.
Our family wishes to express its thankfulness for the truly compassionate care provided by his physicians, medical assistants and personnel of the 4th Floor and 6th Floor Palliative Unit of the CHUS-Hôtel-Dieu in Sherbrooke and by the staff at Grace Village.
We invite you to join and surround our family with your friendship at this difficult time, in order to remember and honour a very special man and to express your condolences at the Coopérative Funéraire de l’Estrie, 485, rue du 24-juin, Sherbrooke for Visitation, on Friday, May 11 (7 p.m. to 10 p.m.) and Saturday, May 12 (12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.), followed by a short Memorial Service beginning at 1:30 p.m. Donations in his memory will be gratefully accepted by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or by the Fondation du CHUS (Hôtel-Dieu).
